Glad Tidings

History
Established post war in 1918, still a family firm running boat leisure trips; I could see around eight of theirs today in the harbour, all different shapes and sizes.

Spotted the house corner stones where the fishermen's wife's used to sharpen their knives en route walking down to the harbour to collect the herring.

Eventually found some blocked up "bowly- holes" in the side of houses  where cartloads of herring were shovelled into troughs ready for gutting., prior to being smoked. Result - Kippers!

Chuckle
Un-PC of me I know, but I chuckled at a nearby old metal sign saying:

"WANTED
Good Woman
Must be able to Clean, Cook, Sew,
Dig Worms and Clean Fish
Must Have Boat & Motor
Please send Picture of Boat and Motor"

Dog walk no one complete; time for breakfast.
