Paul Harris Memorial Lookout

Paul Harris (1868-1947) was an American who started Rotary International. This lookout, which is also a shelter, was constructed in 1954, out of concrete and steel.

The Blackheath Rotary Club was the second Blue Mountains one. Member Bill Tucker died in 1954 and included in his will money to erect a suitable monument. This happened, but it was not dedicated to Bill which seems unfair. There is however a plaque at the lookout acknowledging Bill.

I asked M to pose in this photo but he said it was too cold and wanted to go back in the car. He's in the extra, taken when we arrived, which shows the Paul Harris name.

It is arctic in Blackheath and blowing a hooley. If I were to take a panning shot I'd have to go outside and that's not going to happen. We're staying in the local, about to have dinner with Trisharooni. M said she's just arrived. Better go!

Thanks for hosting Carolina.

Happy Monday!
