Back to chaos

Thanks for all the stars and comments recently; all appreciated while I’ve not had time to spend on blip myself.  This is both a record and an emergency blip; I’ve today been sorting out paperwork that had been rather neglected, particularly over the last week while I’ve been away.  Mostly done now, and in the process I managed to overheat the shredder.

While I was away yesterday the flooring people came in.  We were never happy with the hall flooring which had been laid on an uneven screed so had a slight ‘ripple’ effect.  All the rest of the house was fine; the carpets were laid by a different fitter and the hard floors in the bathrooms were laid on plywood rather than screed so were flat.  Apparently they had received lots of complaints about the fitter’s work (he’s no longer with them) so it has taken  a long time to remedy them all.  Yesterday they took up the old floor and faulty screed but then discovered that the concrete should have been left for another two to three weeks to dry before the floor was fitted, so they now need to leave it a couple of weeks before finishing the job. Of course, we had to empty everything from the hall, understairs cupboard, meter cupboard and cloakroom, so the contents are now spread all over the kitchen and dining room.  It will be worth it though, to get a good finish, and I can’t fault the flooring company who have been superb.  They did the flooring for the whole of the house but have refused to take any interim payment to cover the rest of the work until we are happy with the whole job.
