Otter

Thanks so much for the lovely comments, hearts and stars for yesterday’s Antony Gormley blip. I’m yet to supply individual responses - but I hope to catch up over the next day or two.

Today takes us to Martin Mere. The weather is less kind, but still it’s dry and photographic opportunities abound. It’s our first visit to a WWT location, and whilst I love the chance to photograph some more exotic species, I can’t help feeling this isn’t really photographing in the wild!

We love the ducks - and I’m so thrilled to see both male Eiders and Mandarins for the first time along with many other weird and wonderful specimens. And, of course, there’s the thrill of seeing Whooper swans fresh from their migration. Perhaps the greatest thrill comes from watching the Asian short clawed otters - and one of these stars in today’s main. Of course, it’s nothing like seeing our otter in Orkney earlier this year - but they really are delightful!

Of course, the problem with a day like this is that you end up with enough blips to last at least a month - so there are three collages; one of otters, and two of ducks, geese and swans.
