These lovely alstroemeria flowers and the early stage of the micro-moon eclipse (see extra) have the same colour in common.

Later the red colour was more obvious as the eclipse of the blood micro-moon progressed (see second extra)

It is the longest partial lunar eclipse that is fully visible from Aotearoa, NZ, in more than 800 years.
The moon will be 97 per cent covered by the deepest part of the Earth's shadow, turning the lunar surface briefly red.
