Cressbrook Dale

Today we hired bikes and cycled from Bakewell along the Monsal Trail. This is a view looking towards Cressbrook Dale from the trail. Upon emerging from Cressbrook tunnel we were presented with this amazing scenery. For November, the weather is unusually mild and sunny. This is an area I haven't explored before, and it is truly stunning.
I have included a panorama in the first extra taken from the same spot.
Further up the trail we passed the old East Buxton Lime Kilns in the second extra. The massive concrete buttresses were added to the kiln in the 1920`s. This kiln was opened in 1880 and worked right up till 1944. There is lots of fascinating industrial history like this in the area.
Now we are back home after a very successful short break.
