Rusty - back at home

Tomorrow Claire comes back from England so today we drove up to her house by the river, near the city of Umeå.  It was a tiring drive because there was wet snow falling and it was getting dark. There was one lane clear of snow where all the traffic was driving. Where there was an overtaking lane it was full of wet snow and slush, so we tended to drive in one long line.  After two hours we drove beyond the bad weather and into a much clearer night.
Since I was driving I have no pictures of the trip here but Jan has blipped one.
My picture shows Rusty, back in his usual home.  He was happy enough but not as enthusiastic as I thought he'd be. The house is fairly open plan so he does have more room to pace around here, as well as his own bed, rather than a rug on the floor.
Claire had warned us that the swans still haven't flown south, because the river delta hasn't frozen yet. As I write I can hear them talking to each other in the darkness. We took a bedroom at the back of the house, where it should be silent.
Looking forward to seeing the place in daylight tomorrow, so we can see the latest developments in Claire's project.
