Collaroy Wall

And so the wall is nearing completion it seems (see extra).  The house and block of flats in the main image appear to have missed out on getting the wall as they are just north of where the wall appears to be ending.  Not sure why - perhaps for financial reasons or perhaps scientifically.  Perhaps they are building it in sections starting with the most impacted houses first.  The residents are being asked to put up about 80% of the costs.

I have to admit I am glad they are being asked to foot the bill.  The sea has threatened houses and buildings along this strip for as long as  colonial houses and buildings have been here (just over 100 years).  Hmmmm.  Surely those who've purchased here in that time would've done their research?  Perhaps not.  But then again, hard to resist the location if the price seemed right!

Global warming may not be the root cause of this threat to property, but it is going to make it harder and scarier for those who live here.
