A Day Worth Recording

There have been a few games published in recent years that, on paper, looked attractive be that for reasons of theme, style, designer, or just plain popularity/hype.  This weekend I got the chance to play a number of them including Smartphone Inc. (above) which, given my technical career, would seem to be an obvious one to add to the shelves.

The others were Nemesis (think: Alien, the board game), Anachrony (time travel), and Dice Hospital (looking very much like a 90's computer game of a similar name).

Nemesis was fun.  OK, so I was injured, bitten, infected, blown up by a grenade and abandoned on a spaceship that we'd rigged to explode, but, you know, it happens :o)

The others were underwhelming.  Yes, all very good games that I'd be happy to recommend to someone with a smaller collection, but nothing especially innovative beyond one-trick-wonders within the game mechanisms.

Happy I Missed Out on the buying frenzy around these.
