It's giving up the ghost . . . . . . .

They that go down to the sea in ships - that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. Psalm 107:23f

Ah well. The yacht is slowly giving up the ghost and won't be seeing any more wonders of the deep. At low tide it's now well settled into the sand and has a pool of water around it. It's proved to be a great photo opportunity for many.

There were a couple of other photographers down there early this morning, trying for images with the sunrise. I have another image which I prefer, where I used a 11-16mm f2.8 lens, but it's badly out of focus. Grrr!

As we'd all suspected, the boat had slipped its mooring around at MoncksBay in the Estuary, had gone out to sea on the king tide, and got beached early on Friday morning. Today's newspaper says that the owner's expecting a salvage bill of $NZ10,000.00, and that the yacht's not insured. I wonder if it'll just get left there - but then it would, or could, be a shipping hazard. I wonder.

So, I expect that that will be that for the saga of the yacht.
