Strong wind across the bay

A quick jog at Southend, incorporating the flat rock platform at the point at the southern end of Snells beach.

Almost the only birds I saw today were white-faced heron. The wind 'wanted' to lift this heron back into the air.

Later this evening I saw at least four Kaka flying into and away from the big Pohutukawa tree. There may have been a fifth; there were certainly four. They are silent fliers, and busy browsers in the tree tops. I think it likely that they roost in the tree overnight, although I have not seen them in the mornings.
