Storm Arwen

Storm Arwen howled and raged through the night.  This morning snow lay all around, fortunately the temperature rose to 2 degrees so away from the North wind things warmed up.  Alice |B. returned from the Coop with (second-hand) news that there was a fallen tree at Potternewton Heights.  I dressed up warm and went to investigate.  There was indeed a fallen tree in the carpark, somehow causing no damage to parked cars.  I carried onto Potternewton Lane where there was a more dramatic event.  The Junior football Matches had, thankfully, been abandoned. A large branch from a tree on the northside had broken off, travelled across the road through a low wooden barrier onto the football fields. The drag marks make me think the tree put up a fight against the wind. It is still blowy out so I am content to give in to watching sport on TV and playing a few tunes on the whistle.  We are having a roast dinner for our tea. And we are getting to the sharp end of Strictly...!
