Oh, What A Beautiful Morning! #2

Well, we woke up to a lot more snow than we expected according to the forecasts. We were a bit concerned as we had arranged to drive up to the Midlands to visit our very good friends N&D who had recently moved from Sutton Coldfield to Earlswood. They reported they had blizzard conditions as well but we decided to give it a go. We could always turn back if we had to. Not so. It was much worse when we left, about twice as much snow as in the blip, and coming down pretty fast. The roads were treacherous in places, it didn't appear that any gritting had been done. It seemed a lot worse for traffic coming towards us though, several cars seemed to be stuck and there were long queues. So turning back wasn't really an option and we had to slowly soldier on. Luckily after Bourton the road and weather conditions improved a lot so we were OK.

We found our friends new house OK, but couldn't get in as a new access gate had been installed and they didn't know how it worked yet. In the end D had to walk down their drive to open the gate and let us in. They are renting a really nice barn conversion. Initially they were going to buy it, but the owner decided he would only rent it. By this time they had sold their own house so decided to move in on a rental basis. They have a new house being built nearby, but we sensed they were not so keen on that now and would rather stay in the barn! It has been very nicely done and they get a lovely sunset from the main room (see extra).

We had a super lunch out with them in a local pub. We're still not very comfortable about socialising like this though.

Back home now. We stopped off in Sainsbury's Wellesbourne on the way, something we haven't done for ages. And we diverted through Bourton to see the Christmas tree, nicely lit up now.
