A time for everything

First Sunday in Advent

Roger was up early this morning to take Jen and Jason down to the airport for their return to Salt Lake City. Fortunately their return was much smoother than their journey here. Today they were taking the direct Delta flight to Salt Lake, so with the time change, they were back in SLC for 10am! I’d had a bad night, so I’m ashamed to say I was still in bed when R returned from the airport, and I was the grateful recipient of a cup of tea in bed! Then it was time to get up, get showered and have breakfast and get off to church. Today is the first Sunday in Advent, and our pastor started a series of messages on Waiting. We also had a message from the Mission Committee, talking about the Catholic Charities organization welcoming 50 Refugee families from Afghanistan, and making an appeal for a wide range of household items to help furnish their accommodation when they arrive, with little if anything other than the clothes on their backs. Service was followed by coffee and goodies as usual, then Bible Study. After a light lunch, the three of us went out to buy a Christmas tree. We went to our usual place, where the trees are brought down from Wisconsin by the same family each year. We found a really nice one quite quickly - a good height, straight, a good shape, and nice and full. It was a cool but sunny afternoon, and they were doing good business. After that, Roger and I went for a lovely sunset walk at Sharon Woods (see extra)
I had fallen a bit behind again over the Thanksgiving long weekend, and have just posted four blips in succession, please scroll back to see if you have time!
