COP26 mural, Glasgow

We started our day in Glasgow at the Wilson Street Pantry. After a wonderful brunch, Paddy and Caitlin headed off to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Meanwhile Mr hazelh and I came straight home, mainly because I wanted to sweep up all the leaves that accumulated in our yarden on Friday night, and to finish the job of writing our Christmas cards (which I started yesterday). Also, Bruce had indicated that he would be calling around this afternoon with a 'thing' for us so we needed to be at home to welcome him.

I cleared the yard first of all. It took an hour! All the Christmas cards were ready for Mr hazelh's signature by supper time, and we are delighted with the 'thing', which arrived just before 4pm. It is a chocolate truffle advent calendar for two from Hotel Chocolat.

This mural is just across the road from our brunch venue. It was painted by the Fearless Collective to coincide with the COP26 conference, so is quite new. I love the section with the unicorn because it looks like a corner of a medieval French tapestry. I found an article online that explains the ideas represented in the mural:

'The mural is an image of power and sovereignty of indigenous leaders at COP26. Leaders of nations who have historically been unrecognised in spaces like this, stand tall and strong in the mural which is an affirmation of their existence and their wisdom. This mural stands in solidarity with indigenous peoples around the world, their struggle, and resilience. Painting out in the streets of Glasgow, through sunshine and rain. Relying on a lot of hard work, the kindness of our incredible volunteers, and some magic.'

Exercise today: walking (9274 steps).
