Grey Heron

The young one spotted me and flew to the grass on the opposite side of the pathway (her usual side is fenced of for some sort of landscaping). She had most of her fish but flew over to the water when a contractor reversed his van near her. I continued to feed her at the loch edge until she suddenly just flew up the loch. I had forgotten that I had put an extra fillet in for her in case the loch was frozen, and that was roughly what was left. What I usually give her is obviously enough. A young couple who were feeding the swans an ducks stopped an watched. When the young one flew off they asked what I was feeding her and commented that it was the first time they had seen a Heron getting close to someone.
