Be strong

The magnificent carved inscription around the doorway of Inverallan Kirk includes the quotation "Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid" which seems particularly apposite for our troubled times.

Also known as the Seafield Memorial Church the Neo - Gothic kirk was erected in 1884 - 6 at the expense of Caroline Stuart, Countess of Seafield as a memorial to her husband and son the 7th and 8th Earls of Seafield. Following their deaths Lady Caroline ran the huge Seafield Estate for 27 years until her death in 1911.

The extra shows the elaborate tracery of the window above the main doors. This design and that of the windows at each gable of the cruciform kirk is based on the initials of Caroline, her husband and son.
