A Day Worth Recording

For new business reasons I needed a new laptop. Our existing one is upwards of 15 years old and runs as if on clockwork, one with a broken spring.

I sinned, and ordered one from A-to-Bezos (mainly to avoid people in tech'y shops on Black Saturday) - along with larger monitor, keyboard etc. all explicitly scheduled for Monday delivery.

Karma rules however, and everything bar the laptop arrived on Sunday at times, luckily, that I was in.  Got an enigmatic text saying the laptop was 'Still on it's way, but delayed'.

Then an email to say I'd be refunded in 10-14 days as there was a problem with the address. (Erm, the same address as on the rest of the order you delivered yesterday?).

Cue strong expressions of discontent to some poor guy in India.

He did discover that the courier hadn't actually lost the address, but had broken the laptop.  Presumably quite drastically so, as I assume it was still in the box but still evidently broken.

Hey ho.  Back to the drawing board, thence to Currys amid the back-of-beyond streets of Worcester.

Euugh. Windows 11.  Still, it's nice and shiny and has a much faster spring than the incumbent laptop.

Oh. Microsoft 365.  Double euugh.
