Cutty Sark

Walked east this morning along the north bank of the Thames straight into the sun. Great blue sky but pretty chilly.
Caught a City Cruise boat to Greenwich where we had a wander round the very attractive ‘village’ and got a warming coffee. We also looked around Greenwich market. Lots of foods stalls and a genuine East End Pie and Mash cafe (with eels and liquor).

We hadn’t pre booked but decided to have a look at the Cutty Sark. We were here a few years ago when it had just been devastated by fire. Good to see it so well restored. I particularly  liked this shot from underneath the hull. We did well as as NT members we got in for half price and it was worth the visit, especially the history of tea trading with China.

Got the boat back to Westminster pier with some entertaining commentary and got the tube up to Bloomsbury and the British museum. I had an email to say we must be on time or we might not be let in. It’s free but you have to get a time slot. After checking our bags they didn’t even check our time tickets!
It was nice to visit again and linger where we wanted. Last time ( two years ago) we had a great tour but it was very busy and we had to keep moving. The first thing we saw saw today was the Rosetta Stone which I think we only got a brief glimpse of on our tour as it was surrounded by people, had it to ourselves today plus lots of time to enjoy the Lewis chessmen again and the Sutton Hoo artefacts.

We had a booked table for a pre theatre dinner at the Bear and Staff where we’ve eaten before and then walked on to the Piccadilly Theatre to see the newly opened Moulin Rouge.
Very well organised checking your vaccination status before letting you into the theatre. I was a bit worried as we seemed to see quite a few queues outside theatres as we passed them but we were in in no time, (masks worn unless drinking)
A fabulous show, a bit saucy and great fun with some real hand clapping songs. The lead male was excellent and according to the programme it’s his first part.

I should be more tired than yesterday but feel ok, maybe we paced it better or I’m just still on a theatre high!

Sorry I may have to skip commenting tonight just managing to get this posted before midnight.
