Chester FC 2 Leamington 1

Those of you who look at my Chester football blips will know that, this season, they have a habit of scoring very late goals. They did it again today with the winner coming in the 5th minute of injury time and once again it was completely unexpected.

Strong winds and heavy rain completely ruined the match as a spectacle so it was an ordeal to watch. Chester kicked against the wind in the 2nd half and barely got out of their own half so James Horsfield's thunderous (deflected) shot was an unexpected bonus when I thought we were fortunate to hold on for a point.

The winner was actually scored at about 5:15 as there was a huge delay when the Leamington goalkeeper was seriously injured as Chester scored the opening goal in the first half. He was unconscious for some time and was eventually taken to hospital but I understand he is recovering.

The picture shows young defender Matty Williams getting a deserved man of the match award. I do wonder what is in the bottle as it is covered by a Chester FC label.
