Halo

Today I went on an architectural walk through the nearby suburb of Chippendale. One focus was the contributions of Judith Neilson, philanthropist and art lover, especially Chinese art, who founded a number of galleries in the area and also the Institute for Journalism and Ideas. Another focus was the Central Park urban renewal project built on the site of a former brewery. The two buildings right and centre are mixed use residential and retail.

Halo, the yellow circular public art sculpture in the photo, was commissioned by the developer and the local council. It was created by Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford. The circle turns in response to atmospheric conditions.

The walk finished at a cellar door with free local sparkling wine and excellent cheese. It was a chance for me to thaw out, being under dressed for the unseasonally cold weather.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend and stay safe.
