Nun's Cross

I met up with my pal John (and Spike, his lovely collie). We had lunch at the Prince of Wales in Princetown. The day started rainy and then the weather gradually improved, that is until I got towards the western moor. Princetown is one of the wettest places in Devon.

After lunch it seemed dryer so we drove up the single track Tor Royal lane to Whiteworks and parked. The instructions to this place say, "Go to the back of beyond and when you get there, keep going." There's a well worn boggy track that leads to Nun's Cross farm and before long (about a kilometre) the roof comes into sight. We wandered around and took some photos and it was about then the that the hail storm started. It seemed a good time to beat a retreat!

My blip is of Nun's Cross (more correctly known as Siward's Cross) one of the oldest crosses on Dartmoor, dating from the 11th century. It marks the intersection of the Abbot's Way and the Monk's Path.

Thanks very much for all your lovely comments, stars and hearts on yeterday's anniversary blip.
