a lifetime burning

Winter Walk

We've Cathy's brother Steven and his wife Anne staying with us for a few days, so we're having a bit of an early December celebration.

With the storm coming in this evening the weather this morning was atrocious when I road the motorbike to Southmead and back for the drug trial clinic.  We thought that we would be doomed to a day indoors, but fortunately as the afternoon light started to disappear the sky cleared a bit and we raced out for a brisk hour's walk.

I'm hoping that no more tiles come off the roof tonight and tomorrow.  The scaffolding is ready for the roofer to start, but the wind and the rain needs to die down before its sensible for him to be able to get up onto it and start work.

In the meantime the knots that Boris Johnson seems to be tying himself in over the party at Downing Street in breach of last December's lock down rules would amusing if it wasn't so symptomatic of everything that is wrong with out current government.
