Wide Wednesday: Dealing... with Nature

Bobsblips has set "With Nature" as today's Widwed challenge. Well, this afternoon I was dealing with nature - or at least the consequences of nature!

We thought we'd got away with almost zero damage from Storm Arwen a week past Saturday, but today we noticed that a large branch of an ash tree had fallen on our garage roof. (The garage is separate from the house, and set back somewhat, and we'd missed this as it's almost hidden from view without squeezing along the side of it.)

We're actually still very lucky as the damage to the garage was pretty small. A gutter bracket had been broken, resulting in part of the gutter falling away as you can see, and there's a small chip off the very edge of one slate - but it's not damaged in such a way as to let water in.

The right side of the diptych shows how big the branch was, so I had to climb up and saw it into many pieces to shift it, especially as its small branches had become entwined with those of a small tree next door.

In due course the larger pieces will be cut up and delivered to a friend who lives out in the country and who has a wood burning stove.

(The two photos in the diptych were taken with my wide (9mm) fisheye lens in order to fit enough in.)
