My favourite photo from Old Moor

We enjoyed our walk around the reserve this afternoon. Heard the Bittern booming but he wasn't in sight. In fact there were few birds close enough to the hide for my lens to cope with. There were some Shovellers - two males and a female at some distance but they would only have come out as specks. This was my favourite image from the day - the sun was shining at this point and I suddenly spotted the reflection of the pylon among the reeds.

Another small fortune spent on bird food - this long winter is costing a fortune in bird supplies. As we prepared to leave we were presented with brilliantly coloured displays of greenfinches as well as a tree sparrows, chaffinches, reed buntings and a brambling. No Yellowhammer though - which is what we'd been told to look for.
