"Speed-dating" on zoom

We had our first virtual meeting this evening of Host UK, the national charity that offers foreign students home visits to families for either a day or weekend visits.

(This is an organisation we have belonged to for over thirty years and tonight’s meeting was to sound us out about offering students virtual visits as well.)

Interestingly the meeting was organised along the lines of “speed dating”. We were put into separate “rooms” for five minutes with a topic to discuss relating to our Host experiences then brought back into the main “room” for a quick debrief before being sent off again.

This Christmas our students will be from China and we are looking forward to hearing what it’s like to be a young person in today’s modern China. It’s thirty years since we visited it, and the country has since undergone enormous economic and technological changes.
