Fossil!

Mrs B tells me, with years of experience behind her, that this is a fossil – that straight thing is a belemnite guard.  We were walking along the shingle beach west of Seatown, where the cliff is blue lias and in a state of continual erosion or collapse.  The sun was very low and the shadows long, making the shapes interesting.

I understand that it will be drizzle tomorrow . . .
