Fika with Friend

I brought lattes and toasted cardamon coffee braid over for a chat with friend Mike today as she is nursing her back and not going too far.   It's cold.   We had a good chat…the usual ..old age, life and death, health, minimal politics, etc but mostly books and movies which was lovely.   H and I watched The Power of the Dog last night…and thought it was so good…but the ending was quite clear.  At least what happened. Perhaps the reason for it not so clear.   (No spoiler here…) Much to talk about …. and some theme similarities with the book Shuggie Bain.

And then this afternoon H and I paid a visit to our DIL to wish her Happy Birthday today, as she gets ready for her breast surgery next week.  Today was her last day of work for 4 weeks, so she’ll have a good  break anyway.  She’s not too fond of her photos at the moment but I like this with roses and the new not yet decorated tree…and it won’t be permanent.   she is a trooper!…and of course fun with Cocoa Bean…extras.
