Spennymoor Town 4 Chester FC 2

A cold, wet, December afternoon in Spennymoor is not very glamorous and Chester continued their dreadful record in the North East with another defeat. No argument with the result but it was frustrating because they were trailing 2-0 and then in true Chester style scored twice in the last 15 minutes to make it 2-2. Unfortunately they promptly conceded two more to make it 4-2 to Spennymoor. The main photo shows caretaker manager Danny Livesey on the touchline.

On the way back it occurred to me that due to restrictions I haven't seen Chester win away for coming up to 2 years now. It also occurred to me that I haven't missed a restriction-free Chester game, home or away, since we got back from holiday in Australia in November 2019.

As usual it was another good day until the football started. Some geocaching in the railway town of Shildon was followed by a similar walk around West Auckland where one of the locations we visited was a statue to commemorate the fact that West Auckland Town FC were the winners of the first World Cup, in 1910, The extra shows the impressive statue on the green.

After leaving West Auckland we continued to Spennymoor and visited the very friendly micro pub, the Little Tap, near to the ground. It is well worth a visit should anyone find themselves at a loose end in Spennymoor.
