Kingfisher

Of all days, I managed to catch this little fellow, on a day where my priority (with an old friend, G) was to move my dad's boat from the marina where it was repaired, back to her moorings. Amongst other priorities were, wiping down the insides of the boat, having bacon/egg butties and quenching our thirst at the Barbridge. It was a fine day, but muddy following the ridiculous amount of rain we've had this week gone.
Kingfishers are a rarity, but are "known" to hover around some of the canals in Cheshire, particularly the quieter areas that are heavily canopied by twisty trees and shrubbery. Despite the good light, we were shadowed for this shot and with my camera under exposed, I had a lot of adjustments to make in PS afterwards regarding the noise, aberration, cropping and unwanted background colours. But quite pleased considering the speed of these things.
We got the boat landed safe and sound. G certainly enjoyed it to such an extent that he forgot how good it is on the canals (been over 30 years since he last went on a boat).
Happy days.
Will definitely be doing this again.
