The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Tuesday 14th December 2021)

I think this is the same spider I blipped some time ago. It seems to thrive on my inside kitchen window, and I have no intention of disturbing it.
P.S. For PRspider: this was taken at home in Calne, Wiltshire.

Thank you carol_dunham for hosting Tiny Tuesday.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Castilian Drums (recorded 3 May 1961, Columbia 30th Street Studio, New York NY)
Dave Brubeck Quartet: Dave Brubeck (pno), Paul Desmond (alto sax), Eugene Wright (ac-bass), Joe Morello (dr, perc)
The album Countdown - Time In Outer Space from which this comes is added as a bonus to my copy of Time Out, which I was playing through on this day. It continues Brubeck's exploration of time signatures other than 4/4, and like Take Five is in 5/4 time. Of it, Brubeck says, "More harmonically adventurous than its 5/4 predecessors, it exemplifies the ease with which the Quartet improvises on this rhythm even on a new tune. Castilian Drums is a 5/4 vehicle for percussion. [Joe] Morello's solo reflects his interest in the improvised table drumming of India. By phrasing over the bar line in fast double time in the piano chorus, I attempt to capture the flavour of flamenco guitar."
