IB Iffla, Cricketer

Irvin Iffla was a native of Jamaica who came to Scotland in 1951 to earn a living from playing cricket. He established himself in Stirling and is credited with doing much to develop the game within the area. Although I am not a follower of cricket I understand that Iffla was a fairly awesome spin bowler who could take 8 or 9 wickets in one match.
He was still playing cricket at the age of 69 and was made a freeman of the City of Stirling in 2009. His gravestone is in the cemetery off the Upper Back Walk and just below the castle walls.
