Waddesdon Manor Lights

A full-on afternoon-evening at Waddesdon Manor as a Volunteer.  It's great fun with action going in bursts  and then we stand around talking.  My role today was at North Fountain where the buses arrive bringing up our visitors from the main car park with wheelchair visitors needing a bit of assistance getting on or off the bus.  At one point a lady arrived on the bus with her daughter but she could barely walk even with her 'push along'; she asked about the mobility assist vehicle which trundled up and down the drive but 'died' a while ago and hasn't been replaced.  Poor lady, she looked at our drive (long) and was prepared to give it a go.  I could see she'd never make it so offered to push her along the drive in one of the wheelchairs; she accepted the offer. It was hard work! But she made it to her afternoon tea and I'm assuming she made it back.

Another lady had lost her car keys - we radioed a few places but nothing had turned up.  So we suggested she went back to her car just in case she'd left or dropped them there.  She'd actually left them still in the ignition.  It's this sort of thing we are dealing with all the time as well as controlling the boarding and disembarking off the buses.  Busy!

I took a break when my shift finished to meet some friends for a look at the lights.  Mulled wine was good! Then another short shift to help out before heading home.  Herding cats is such fun!

Saga of the camera club trundles on - there will be a constructive and positive outcome from all this.  Don't mess with camera club judges - you need us more than we need you!!!!
