Finds

Well, yesterday's wall turned out to be the side of a stone-lined drain (known in these parts as a cundy). Having recorded that, I turned to excavating a pit full of middeny material...lots of animal bone and green-glaze pot sherds (maybe 16th- 17th C?), also this flint flake, which will be considerably older :)
LeftHand also got a lot of similar pottery out of his trench, as well as a very early clay pipe bowl (perhaps from the time of James VI, author of "Ane Counterblaste against Tobacco") and some 13th/14th C pottery sherds.
Kenny, on the other hand, found nothing in his trench. Since he was the one who decreed that we should start on site at 7.30, GOOD! ;)
