Wound up in Wexford

Lessons in progress

Z has decided she wants to learn to knit.  She bought what was advertised as a simple pattern and "teach yourself knitting" kit from the internet, but in fact is really rather more advanced than the complete beginner.  It came with a link to some Youtube videos - but I really think it's quite difficult to learn something like knitting from a video unless you have at least some basic knowledge.

So today we purchased some chunky wool and some large knitting needles from Hobbycraft, and she is making what all knitters do as a first project - a scarf.  With my "expert" tuition she is coming along nicely - she has pretty much mastered the basics.    And she can recognise when she has gone wrong - though putting it right is still a problem.  She's had a go at a variety of simple patterns.

They're going out for the day tomorrow, but hopefully we can continue the lessons on Tuesday, and then she can get an alternative tutor, as they will move on to spend a few days with S's family - apparently his mum and gran are both keen knitters.
