Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Disturbing news

Far be it from me to worry anyone, but it appears that life on Earth may be in imminent danger of ceasing to be.

This was the view, early this morning, of the southern sky as seen through the mighty 36 inch reflecting telescope at the Newburgh on Ythan Observatory. It would appear that there is something large and rather malevolent heading our way. Early calculations suggest that the one-eyed rock is about 75 miles in diameter. For comparison, the asteroid that knocked off the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago was a mere 6 miles across. It would appear that we are quite doomed!

The rock will impact next Wednesday, a little to the south of Glasgow. There are 6 shopping days left to Domesday and time another 6 blips or so, best make them good ones!

It looks particularly malevolent through the 48 inch refractor.
