Billy Smart

Today I was an extended Daddy day for me to spend the morning with Girl who is on her Easter break and then teh addition of Boy in the afternoon.

Girl wanted to relax at home this morning so after dropping off the Boy we went back home where we watched a movie, played some games and ate some food.

Once we had collected Boy we headed to the common to get our tickets as Billy Smart's Circus is in town. A while ago we saw the Moscow state circus when they were in town and we all loved it so we thought we should give this one a go also.

After getting the tickets we dived to the shops for circus snacks and treats and then headed back for showtime. The show was brilliant with incredible strength, skill and agility on show. Girl liked the acrobatic Girl at the beggining the most whilst I was wowed by the trapeze artists who were amazing, just pipping the man playing the drums with juggling balls. As for Boy his favourite part was going to the play park afterwards, but then he did fall asleep under his ear defenders for part of the show.

I don't know how Boy manages to sleep at these live exciting events. Whether it be the Olympics or the circus he will happily nod off amid the mass noise, yet come bedtime he will take ages to go off and then wake with ease.

There were a few imperfections in teh show but we think they were purposfully added to create drama. All except for the balloon not popping on the third attempt by the Girl archer who was shooting her bow using her feet over her head as she balanced on poles with her hands. She hit it but is just didn't pop. Oh well you can't have it all.

As per the last circus visit I left with the feeling of wonder at why so many of us watch stuff on the telly such as Britians got Talent when you can see better talent travelling around the country in a heated big top on a very cold spring day.
