Preston Brook Bridge Number 1 - Bridgewater Canal

Another day of dull, grey weather but at least I managed to get out before the rain started, The colour in this picture looked very washed out so it is improved with a mono conversion.

The is Preston Brook Bridge number 1 on the Preston Brook branch of the Bridgewater canal. This branch is only 0.8 mile long and links the Bridgewater Canal with the Trent and Mersey canal. Anyone who has been on a boat or walked along the Trent and Mersey will recognise Preston Brook as it appears on the mileage markers.

The bridge carries the A56 across the canal and isn't the original bridge which I guess had to be replaced to take the increased road traffic. As the terminus of two canals Preston Brook is of historical interest and there are old canal cottages and warehouses in the area.

There are only two bridges along this branch and I blipped the other one on October 14th. I think this looks noticeably better large.
