The Sheds

A very cloudy, cold and dull day again today which started with a sharp frost. This morning I did a lot of housework, then this afternoon I went for a walk with H in Sheringham Park. She took me a different route which went up and down the hill, in and out of the trees and I had no idea where I was. A horrible day for photos, hopefully you can just about make out a couple of engines outside the sheds at Weybourne.

Day 646 / Day 13 of Plan B (for my record only)
There was a record 106,122 cases reported today, 14% higher than the previous record. London is the centre of the wave, it's reported that a third of the population there is unvaccinated. There was also a record 968,665 booster / third jabs given yesterday - amazing! The First Minister has announced new measures in Wales from Boxing Day (following Scotland yesterday), including 'the rule of 6' in hospitality venues, 2m social distancing in all premises open to the public, face coverings in hospitality settings except when seated, table service in licenced premises, people attending weddings and funerals have to take a LFT, no large events indoors or out (30 allowed indoors, 50 outside), exceptions for team sports and events involving children. He strongly recommended that a max of 3 households should meet at one time. It's just been announced that nightclubs in Northern Ireland are to close on Boxing Day, and other measures are to be announced after NI reported their largest number of daily Covid cases. Meanwhile in England, the only change was to lessen a control over self isolation for people with Covid, reducing it from 10 to 7 days provided you have a negative LFT on day 6 and 24 hours later on day 7 and have no symptoms, but people are still advised to take caution over the next 3 days and limit close contact in crowds or poorly ventilated places and with more vulnerable people. The JCVI has recommended that vulnerable children aged 5-11 should be offered a paediatric version of the Pfizer jab, with c330,000 eligible. The UK has bought an extra 4.25m courses of two different antivirals. Israel is to offer a 4th vaccine dose to people over 60. The WHO says that blanket vaccination programmes are likely to prolong the pandemic due to vaccine inequality, and that 3 in 4 health workers in Africa remain unvaccinated. Early data is suggesting hospitalisations with Omicron might be lower, but based on low numbers and not yet peer reviewed.
