Not A Festive Forest

So, we got dressed up in our sub-arctic clothes:-  hat, scarf, warm gloves, hiking boots and so on, grabbed an umbrella for good measure and set off to meet up with the younger Flums and co-grannies at Beecraigs Country Park for their Festive Forest event - and the Flumlet was booked to meet Santa, so hugely exciting.

The weather was not promising, with rain and the temperature dropping to zero as we approached. Mr Flum and I drove into the allocated car park as directed but found few other cars there; they were not parking but turning round and driving back to the entrance. They must know something...we followed and asked the gate steward what was happening.

Apparently there had been a power outage and the event was cancelled, emails had been sent out to that effect. But an awful lot of cars were still arriving so that obviously had not reached many inboxes, including that of S, who had made the booking, and who had yet to arrive. (it transpired that he power cut was in the early afternoon and the email was sent at around 3.40pm, i.e., 20 minutes before the event was due to begin when most people would have been en route or already arriving). We then all arranged to meet in the Visitor Centre carpark, in the gloom and drizzle, to discuss alternative plans. A disconsolate Flumlet was close to tears, as it seems all other popular Santa visits are similarly booked out.

Thus deprived of our entertainment and food  we drove back to The Steading for an early meal - and very nice, too. The Flumlet immediately made his choice of fish and chips followed by ice cream with brownie - which he duly finished, and also completed the word search puzzle on his menu. Suitably cheered he ended the meal with a mini tickle-fight with B.

 Santa? What Santa?
