Old Norse Origins

I've been fascinated by the name of these woods since I first visited them. A quick bit of internet research reveals :-
Beck- stream or river (Old Norse - bekkr)
Mickle- lots or many ( Old Norse mikkil)
Ing- marsh or water meadow  near a river subject to frequent flooding (Old Norse)
A picture of the beck through a mossy bough in extras. That was after a detour because a fallen tree has wrecked a footbridge and a 7km jog/ walk in the rain because  after a sneezy cold for the last 10- days,  I've not done enough exercise.  I had an hour or so to while away waiting for a bus to arrive in Staveley bringing  son M home for Christmas.
