Main Street, Monsaraz

First of all, thanks so much for all your birthday wishes for yesterday, really appreciated.

Every town in Portugal seems to have its own presépio, a Nativity scene with added figures, sometimes even with real people, and the largest with over 5,600 figures.

Went over the Lake today to see the one in Monsaraz, as we've done every year we've been here. It doesn't change much, but worth seeing again, as you walk through the town, passing all sorts of figures, including Roman soldiers, sheep drinking from the trough, wise men on camels, and culminating in the castle with Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus on a bale of straw, with a cow and a donkey. What was different this year was the temperature, so mild; it's usually freezing up there, also that there were quite a lot of folk about.

Excited to discover a newly opened café called Sahida, absolutely charming and good things to eat and drink, plus says it'll be open every day, all day, unusual for here.

Gratefuls:
- an outing, even though we can't go away just yet
- Sahida, looking forward to going back
- turkey curry for lunch
