Silvester/New Year's Eve/Hogmanay

It's tradition on Silvester.

There is supposed to be a ban on people buying fireworks here - I have explained that you are normally only allowed to buy them between Xmas & New Year - the idea is to stop people gathering and futher spreading the virus that has blighted lives.  

Naturally people here being the faux-geniuses* that they are, have been skipping over the border to other countries and loading up there.  

Unfortunately the weather is really good, it's warm and dry and I'm sure there will be thousands of people out there, vying to become a Darwin Award winner.

We'll skip over the pollution issues, and just point out it's shit for pets.  I hate seeing my cats looking scared and looking for somewhere to hide.  

It's heading towards dusk, we'll find out soon enough.

*If you insist the plural is genii - fine, whatever makes you happy.
