In a den

When we were in Minsmere last week, I saw signs for a trail based around Robin Robin.  Then R mentioned that the boys had really liked the film and the book.  So I suggested that we go down to Minsmere to follow the trail.  But then I discovered that lots of the RSPB reserves are doing the same trail, and found that RSPB Strumpshaw (only about 10 miles away) was doing it.  So we saved ourselves a long journey and drove over to Strumpshaw for the morning.

We were really fortunate with the weather - the first fully dry day for ages, and so mild.  The boys really enjoyed the trail - spotting the characters from the film and listening to an audio clip at each station.  At the end of the trail we found a den making area, and the boys carried logs across to prop up and make a den.  In extras is Robin trying very hard to pick up a REALLY large log!

And the boys refused to stand by the photo board, but instead insisted on hiding behind it!

Then after a very quick lunch, we went along to a little local swimming pool for a 30 minute swimming session.  Robin is really confident in the water (albeit still with arm bands) and can propel himself through the water on his back and on his front.  Milo enjoyed himself so much he screamed vociferously when made to leave!

W made us sausage and chips for tea.
