Breakey Blips

Shakespeare in the Park

Last year we turned up in the Botanic Gardens to see a Midsummer Nights Dream, it was a good play, but we were cold and rather uncomfortable on our meagre picnic blanket.

We watched and learnt how the locals do it.

This year we were back. With our little picnic table, avoiding many of the usual mishaps, rugged up in our individual, slightly eccentric, styles and using little low seats.
The comfort rating was significantly higher!
The Australian Shakespeare Company was very good too.
BUT the 'Comedy of Errors' was at the pure 'whoops! There go my trousers!' end of entertainment. Not really my cup of tea, regardless of its great author or age. The plot boiled down to one word - twins.
I love seeing Shakespeare outside, it somehow reveals the different levels of audience that Shakespeare was trying to entertain at the same time. I will keep going, but maybe do my homework a bit more next time.
