Here we go again

Two days into the new year and all optimism is out of the window. And, yes, it's all down to bloody football again.

Normally a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea is a good result - but the league is so skewed by ManCity money at the moment, that anything less than perfection is ultimately going to fail. And that means that properly coached teams - like Liverpool, but also like Brighton - no longer have any hope of reaching the summit. Now, really now, it is all about money.

Chelsea, of course, were at the vanguard of this when Abramovic arrived. But in today's climate, a billionaire isn't as good as a multi-billionaire - especially when his country isn't the flavour of the day with those crooks at the Football Association.

Oh well. There's always the Champions League. But even there, the proliferation of crooked Middle East cash...

Other than that, well, it was a reasonable day. Once I got the stench of disappointment out of my nostrils.
