Nature Diary... A brighter day

It was a very cold, morning compared to recent days but by mid-day the sun managed to break through the greyness, stirring the birds into life and into activity. Initially, without my camera to hand, a small flock of Starlings descended en masse and demolished all the food in the feeders, rather irritatingly as they keep doing it, but they soon moved on to be followed by several smaller birds. With the feeders refilled there arrived an interesting group of pigeons amongst whom was an obvious leader who challenged all the others in turn until they all sat back and just watched him finish the ground-level food, and as usual the Buddha just watched and laughed!  All the pigeons looked in very good condition so they’re obviously not going hungry. 
I wonder who will visit the bird feeders tomorrow...
