A long bike ride

I had an early appointment with the osteopath this morning.  He’s concerned that I haven’t improved and has referred me for an X-ray to try to find out exactly what is causing the problem. In the meantime, I’ll stick to cycling and not walking.

It wasn’t quite as hot today as yesterday and there was a cool breeze blowing, so we managed the 64.5 kms without getting over-heated.  It was a beautiful day nonetheless, as the blip collage shows. Our friends cycled to us for breakfast, then we all cycled back through the Viaduct area and Westhaven Marina almost to their place, where we had coffee at a nearby café before taking the western cycle path that runs alongside the motorway out to the Te Atatu Peninsula.  After cycling around the peninsula on various cycle paths, we returned to their house for lunch, then hubby and I made our way home.  A most enjoyable day.

I thought the street light was rather elegant and showed up well against the blue sky. In the photo on the top right it’s possible to see (from the left) Rangitoto, the harbour bridge and the buildings in the CBD. Bottom right is a quaint little garden containing two beehives, surrounded by a white picket fence.  It’s on a slope right alongside the port but we couldn’t find an explanation for why it was there.  There were lots of big bees buzzing around obviously enjoying the flowers.

There are 17 new community cases today. They are in Auckland (5), Waikato (3) and Bay of Plenty (9).
