The Edge of the Wold

Marsh tit

Another glorious day of sunshine and blue skies, and an afternoon spent at Leighton Moss with C and Sue.  The marsh tit was coming down to nervously collect seeds before heading back into the willows to eat them.  Extra Big Len turns the reeds behind into an interesting wallpaper.

The bird list for the year made a significant leap forward with all the wetland birds, and from the Lower Hide we saw a single Jack Snipe in amongst its bigger cousins.  There was a lady there who had waited three hours to get a photograph, and I didn't manage to find it through the camera lens.  But never mind, I have photographed one before.

A good afternoon out, good company and perfect January weather and lovely winter light.
