The adventure begins

Our very kind friends picked us up at 10am and drove us to the airport. We arrived at 10:32 and had registered our suitcases, printed our baggage tags and dropped our suitcases at the bag drop by 10:39. Very efficient. We left our iPads at home, so bought magazines at the airport to keep us entertained over the next ten days. We had a smooth flight to Christchurch and the four of us took a taxi to our accommodation, dropped our suitcases and then took another taxi to New Regent Street to find some lunch and have a stroll. It’s such a pretty street and the trams drive right through it. Then it was back to our accommodation to relax before going out to dinner.

On our way to dinner we visited the earthquake memorial that records the names of all 185 people who died.

We went to a restaurant called Amazonita for dinner. The decor reflected the name. A long-standing friend of mine who now lives in Christchurch joined us for dinner. It was so good to catch up with her.

The blip shows New Regent Street, a tram alongside street art, the Earthquake Memorial Wall and Amazonita restaurant.

There is no Covid case update today.
